8 Megapixel Camera Phone

The battle of the 8 megapixels camera phones has been raging for a couple of years now and what we see is that the heroes have already joined the fight long ago while the 2010 and 2011 youngsters are incapable of facing the challenge. Sadly that means that the newly introduced Android software, although perhaps the best on the market today, has no appropriate camera to power. Except, that is, for the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 which may not be the best 8 Megapixel Camera Phone but is certainly a contender especially if we look at it as whole.

The pictures taken with the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10
are indeed worthy of an 8 Megapixel Camera phone. They have stick with a led flash and perhaps that is for the best because the implementation of a xenon flash in a decent camera will take a few more years to be done wright. The camera interface is decent, having all the most used icons on the viewfinder directly. The only sad exception being the controls for the flash which is by default off and you have to dig for it in the advanced menu and even then it does not stay on for more than a pic. On the other hand the best pictures are those taken without the color interference a flash brings in and this being an 8 megapixel camera phone it won’t probably be taking a lot of flash photos.

However as we’ve said in the beginning a better 8 megapixels camera phone can be found on the Samsung i8910 Omnia HD. It has been released in May 2009 and so it can only enjoy the Symbian 60 operating system. That having been said you still get what is probably the best 8 megapixel camera phone on the market today. The menu is vast and comprehensive allowing you to set such complex features as white balance and ISO. Furthermore the company’s wide dynamic range feature allows for photos with a lot more detail especially in the shadow areas of the photo. The image quality the Samsung i8910 Omnia HD produces is pretty much as good as we have seen on a mobile phone. The color rendering is spot-on; contrast and dynamic range are also great. Fine detail is also very good which makes this 8 megapixel camera phone a dream for any enthusiast.

Enter the Nokia C7 with its 680MHz CPU and 256MB RAM which work like a dream on the Symbian OS. Indeed you still have the Symbian but it’s on the brand that made it famous, Nokia, and it glimmers through the Super Amoled touch screen. The pictures are good and you get to control ISO, white balance and color tone so you might be surprised of what you can get out of this little 8 megapixel camera phone.
